2nd Mass Initiation (Sacred Thread) Program Conducted at Falakata

Webdesk, TNI Falakata, 2nd March, 2017: Falakata Purohit Kalyan Manch organized a mass Initiation (Sacred Thread) ceremony at Mahakal Thakur Baari here at Falakata. Today 20 boys from economically distressed families were tied with the holy sacred thread by performing the Vedic rituals by 21 priests. From the morning rituals like Abyudaika (Getting Up from Sleep Ritual), Prayaschitto (Atonement), Churakaran (Tonsure) and at the end Upanayana (Initiation) was completed. The day before yesterday hundreds of women in red fringe sarees along with traditional drums with music went to Mujhnai River bed to do the ritual called Ganga Nimantran (Ganga Invitation). The water brought were used to bathe the boys yesterday. At the end, the newly initiated Brahmachari boys had to do the ritual called Broto Bhikkha (Begging Vow) and then sought the blessing. Mr. Ananda Mishra, the president of the Mass Initiation Committee of Falakata Purohit Kalyan Samiti told TNI that this time it is the 2nd mass Initiation program conducted by Falakata Purohit Kalyan Manch. In this mass initiation program, the economically distressed brahmin boys are Initiated (Sacred Thread) with all the traditional Vedic rituals. This time the committee did not have any sound system for the ongoing Madhyamik Examinations. Only the rituals were maintained.
